Possible Causes
Failed contactor coil, Open low‑voltage Y circuit, Tripped high‑ or low‑pressure switch, Blown control fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the outdoor disconnect and indoor breaker before opening panels.
- Listen for contactor pull‑in: With power on and a call for cooling, you should hear a click at the outdoor unit. If not, suspect the control circuit.
- Check low‑voltage fuse: Inspect the 3–5A fuse on the indoor control board and replace if blown after correcting any shorts.
- Measure 24V at contactor coil: If no 24V is present when cooling is called, trace the Y circuit and pressure switches for an open.
- Test contactor coil: With power off, measure resistance across the coil. Replace the contactor if open or burned.
- After replacement: Restore power and test operation. If safety switches are tripping, address the underlying pressure or airflow issue.
