Possible Causes
Failed PSC blower motor, Open or weak blower capacitor, Loose blower wiring, Seized blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the furnace/air handler at the breaker and service switch.
- Check thermostat fan setting: Set fan to ON. If blower still does not run, proceed with inspection.
- Inspect blower compartment: Remove access panel and look for obvious damage or obstructions in the blower wheel.
- Test capacitor: Locate the blower capacitor (usually metal can). Discharge it safely, then measure capacitance with a meter. Replace if more than ±10% off rating.
- Spin blower wheel: If it does not spin freely, remove and clean or replace the wheel and check motor bearings.
- Motor testing: If capacitor is good and wheel spins freely but motor will not start, the motor is likely failed and should be replaced with a York‑approved blower motor.
