Possible Causes

Partially failed heating element (one section open), Low mains voltage, Faulty temperature sensor causing low setpoint, Weak relay contacts on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool before disassembly.

Steps to diagnose:

  • Verify settings and load: Ensure you are not overloading the basket and that you preheat if recommended. Compare with the AEG manual cooking times.
  • Check mains voltage: If possible, measure the outlet voltage under load; significantly low voltage can reduce heating performance.
  • Inspect heating element: Remove the top cover to view the heater. Look for darkened or broken sections. Test resistance across the element; compare with service specs. A significantly higher resistance than normal indicates a weakened element; replace the heating element assembly.
  • Check relay contacts: On the main PCB, inspect the heater relay for signs of overheating. Pitted contacts can cause voltage drop. Replace the relay or entire board if necessary.
  • Sensor calibration: If the NTC sensor is reading too high, the control will limit heater output. Compare actual cavity temperature (with an oven thermometer) to the set temperature. If consistently low, consider replacing the NTC temperature sensor.
