Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer from the mains before opening any panels. Allow the unit to cool completely if it was recently used.
Steps to check and address E1:
- Power reset: Unplug the air fryer for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try again. If E1 reappears, continue.
- Access the sensor: Remove the rear or bottom cover (depending on model) by undoing the Torx or Phillips screws. Locate the NTC temperature sensor clipped to or near the heating element housing or air channel.
- Inspect wiring: Check the two-wire harness from the NTC sensor to the main control PCB. Look for broken insulation, burnt spots, or pulled-out pins. Reseat the connector firmly on the PCB.
- Test the sensor: Using a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the NTC leads. A typical reading at room temperature is between 50 kΩ and 200 kΩ (exact value varies by model). If the meter shows OL (open) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
- Replace if faulty: If open or physically damaged, replace with an OEM AEG-compatible NTC temperature sensor. Route the new sensor wiring away from sharp edges and hot surfaces, and secure with high-temperature cable ties.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the covers, plug the unit back in, and run a preheat cycle. Confirm that E1 no longer appears.
When to stop: If the sensor and wiring are intact but E1 persists, the main control PCB sensor input may be defective. In that case, replacement of the main control board is recommended and should be done by a qualified technician.
