Possible Causes
Failed rotary encoder on control panel, Broken knob shaft, Contaminated encoder contacts, Loose encoder connector to display PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before removing the control panel.
Steps to fix E10:
- Inspect the knob: Check if the control knob is cracked, loose, or spinning freely without detents. Replace the control knob if physically damaged.
- Access encoder: Remove the front bezel and control panel to expose the rotary encoder mounted on the PCB.
- Check mounting and solder joints: Ensure the encoder is firmly soldered to the PCB. Look for cracked solder joints around its pins and resolder if necessary.
- Clean encoder: If accessible, use a small amount of contact cleaner on the encoder shaft while rotating it to clear oxidation. Do not flood the PCB.
- Reseat connector: If the encoder connects via a small harness, unplug and replug the connector.
- Replace encoder: If still faulty, desolder and replace the rotary encoder with an equivalent AEG-specified part.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the panel and knob, power on, and verify that temperature/time can be adjusted without E10.
