Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before removing the control panel or top cover.
Steps to address E6:
- Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and test. If E6 returns, proceed.
- Access control panel: Remove the top/front bezel screws and gently lift off the control panel assembly. Be careful not to tear the ribbon cable.
- Check ribbon cable: Reseat the flat ribbon cable connectors at both the touch panel and main PCB ends. Ensure the locking tabs are fully engaged.
- Inspect for moisture/grease: Wipe any condensation, oil, or food residue from the back of the touch panel and around connectors with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use excessive liquid cleaners.
- Examine for cracks: If the touch glass or PCB is cracked, the touch control panel assembly must be replaced with an AEG-compatible part.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the panel, ensuring no cables are pinched. Power on and verify that the error is cleared and buttons respond correctly.
Note: If reseating and cleaning do not resolve E6, the fault may lie in the main control board firmware or communication circuitry, requiring board replacement.
