Possible Causes
Seized or obstructed circulation fan, Failed fan motor, Loose fan blade on shaft, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains and allow the unit to cool before accessing the fan area.
Diagnostic steps:
- Listen for fan: When starting a cycle (before error appears), listen for the internal fan. If it does not start or makes grinding noises, suspect a fan issue.
- Access the fan: Remove the rear or top cover to expose the circulation fan assembly above or behind the heater.
- Check for obstructions: Remove any foil, food particles, or plastic that may be jammed in the fan blades. Spin the fan by hand; it should rotate freely without wobble.
- Tighten fan blade: If the blade is loose on the motor shaft, tighten the retaining nut or screw. Use thread-locking compound if specified by AEG service documentation.
- Test fan motor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan connector and measure motor winding resistance. An open circuit or very high resistance indicates a failed motor. Replace the circulation fan motor assembly.
- Check driver circuit: If the motor tests good, inspect the main PCB fan driver components (transistors, triac, or relay) for damage. Replace the board if necessary.
- Reassemble and test: After repairs, reassemble the housing and run a test cycle to confirm normal fan operation and absence of E8.
