Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware in main control board, Faulty EEPROM or microcontroller, Voltage spikes causing memory errors, Poor connector contact between display and main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening any covers.
Steps to attempt resolution:
- Hard reset: Disconnect the air fryer from mains for at least 15 minutes. Press and hold the Start/Stop button (if accessible) for 10 seconds while unplugged to help discharge internal circuits. Reconnect and test.
- Check connectors: Remove the control panel and inspect the connectors between the display board and main PCB. Reseat all plugs and ribbon cables.
- Surge protection: If E9 occurred after a power surge, consider using a surge-protected outlet. However, persistent E9 usually indicates internal memory issues.
- Board replacement: There is no user-serviceable way to reflash firmware on most AEG air fryer boards. If E9 persists after reseating connectors and power cycling, replace the main control board with an OEM part.
Note: Handle PCBs by the edges and avoid static discharge by grounding yourself before touching components.
