Possible Causes

Protective oils on heating element, New plastic components heating for first time, Inadequate initial burn‑in, Foreign packaging material left inside

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Operate the unit in a well‑ventilated area during burn‑in.

  • Step 1 – Initial cleaning: Wash the basket and drawer with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
  • Step 2 – Burn‑in cycle: Run the air fryer empty at 200°C (392°F) for 15–20 minutes, then allow to cool. Repeat 2–3 times if necessary.
  • Step 3 – Inspect interior: Ensure all labels, plastic films, and packaging materials have been removed from inside the cooking chamber.
  • Step 4 – If smell persists: If the strong chemical smell continues after multiple burn‑in cycles, discontinue use and contact the retailer or manufacturer, as internal plastics or coatings may be defective.
