Air fryer overheats and burns food even at low temperature settings.

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool. Overheating can be a fire risk; do not leave the fryer unattended.

• Step 1 – Verify symptom: Use an oven thermometer placed in the basket. Run the fryer at 180°C (350°F) and compare the actual temperature. If it climbs far above the set point, regulation is faulty.
• Step 2 – Inspect sensor placement: Open the housing and locate the NTC sensor near the heater. Ensure it is properly clipped in place and not touching the heating element directly.
• Step 3 – Check sensor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) suggests a shorted sensor that will cause overheating.
• Step 4 – Listen for relay: During operation, the heater relay should cycle on and off. If it remains constantly on, the relay contacts may be welded closed or the control logic is stuck.
• Step 5 – Replace components: Replace the NTC temperature sensor if readings are abnormal or if it is physically damaged. If the relay is stuck or the PCB does not modulate the heater, replace the main control PCB.
• Step 6 – Test carefully: After repair, monitor the first few cooking cycles with an oven thermometer to confirm stable temperature control.
