Possible Causes

Misaligned basket drawer, Broken basket detection microswitch, Bent switch actuator tab, Loose switch wiring to PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting the basket switch mechanism.

  • Step 1 – Check basket insertion: Remove the basket and reinsert it firmly until it clicks. Ensure no food debris is preventing full closure.
  • Step 2 – Inspect switch actuator: Look at the side or bottom of the basket drawer where a plastic tab or protrusion engages a hidden switch inside the housing. If the tab is broken or bent, the switch will not be triggered.
  • Step 3 – Access the switch: Remove the bottom or side panel to locate the basket presence microswitch. It is usually mounted near the front of the chassis where the drawer slides in.
  • Step 4 – Test the switch (for experienced DIYers): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the actuator. The switch should change state (open/close). If it does not, replace the switch.
  • Step 5 – Check wiring: Ensure the switch wires are intact and firmly connected to the PCB. Repair any broken or loose connections.
  • Step 6 – Replace damaged parts: Replace the basket microswitch or the basket/drawer assembly if the actuator tab is broken and cannot reliably engage the switch.
