Possible Causes

NTC temperature sensor out of calibration, Sensor detached from heater housing, Stuck heater relay on main control PCB, Blocked airflow around thermostat area

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug immediately if you smell burning plastic or see smoke. Allow to cool fully.

Steps to address overheating:

  • Clean interior: Remove grease and food debris from the heater area and vents. Built-up grease can cause hot spots and smoke.
  • Check sensor mounting: Access the heater housing and confirm the NTC temperature sensor is firmly attached to the metal surface. Reattach with the original clip or bracket if loose.
  • Test sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare with expected values (service data). Replace if readings are far off or unstable.
  • Observe heater behaviour: With the unit reassembled, run a short cycle and listen for the heater cycling on and off. If it appears to stay on continuously and temperatures are excessive, the heater relay on the main PCB may be stuck closed; replace the main control PCB.

Warning: Do not continue using an air fryer that overheats; this is a fire hazard.
