Possible Causes
Misaligned basket or drawer, Faulty basket detection microswitch, Broken switch actuator tab on drawer, Loose wiring to basket switch on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting internal switches.
Steps to address E9:
- Check basket insertion: Remove the basket and drawer completely, then reinsert firmly until you hear or feel a click. Ensure nothing is obstructing the rails.
- Inspect the drawer latch: Look at the front of the drawer for the plastic tab or protrusion that actuates the internal microswitch. If it is broken or worn, the drawer may not engage the switch.
- Test the switch: With the unit unplugged and the housing partially removed, locate the basket detection microswitch near the front where the drawer slides in. Manually press the switch lever and listen for a distinct click.
- Continuity check: Use a multimeter to test the switch. It should show continuity when pressed and open when released. Replace the switch if it fails this test.
- Adjust alignment: If the switch is good but not being actuated, adjust its mounting position slightly so the drawer tab fully depresses it when closed.
- Secure wiring: Ensure the switch wires are firmly connected to the main PCB and not broken or pinched.
Note: Do not bypass the basket detection switch; it is a safety feature that prevents operation with the drawer open.
