Possible Causes

Misaligned basket not fully inserted, Broken basket detection microswitch, Bent switch actuator tab on chassis, Disconnected switch wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before reaching into the basket cavity or opening the housing.

Basic checks:

  • Remove the basket and pan and reinsert them firmly until you hear or feel a click. Some Bella models require the basket handle to be fully down to engage the switch.
  • Inspect the basket rails and side guides for bent metal or plastic that might prevent full insertion.

Switch inspection:

  • With the unit unplugged, look into the side or bottom of the basket cavity to locate the basket safety switch actuator (often a small plastic tab or lever).
  • Remove the outer housing screws to access the actual microswitch mounted to the frame.
  • Check that the switch clicks when the actuator is pressed. If it feels loose, broken, or does not click, it is likely faulty.
  • Verify that the switch wires are firmly connected and not broken.

Repair:

  • Replace a defective microswitch with a compatible basket/door safety switch for Bella air fryer.
  • If the switch is good but the actuator tab on the chassis is bent, carefully bend it back so that inserting the basket fully depresses the switch.
