Possible Causes

Blocked exhaust vents, Failed or mispositioned NTC sensor, Grease buildup on heater and fan reducing airflow, Sticking high-limit thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool. Do not operate the air fryer if it smells like burning plastic or if smoke is coming from the housing.

Ventilation and cleaning:

  • Inspect the rear and bottom vents of the Bella air fryer. Remove any obstructions and ensure there is at least several inches of clearance around the unit when in use.
  • Remove the basket and pan and thoroughly clean them. Wipe the inside of the cooking cavity with a damp cloth to remove grease splatter (do not soak the interior).
  • Access the heater and fan area and carefully remove built‑up grease and dust from the heater shroud and fan blades.

Sensor and thermostat check:

  • Verify that the temperature sensor (NTC) is firmly clipped in its correct position near the heater and not dangling or touching the heater coil directly.
  • Inspect the high‑limit thermostat for signs of overheating or deformation.

If E8 continues after cleaning and confirming proper airflow, the NTC sensor may be reading incorrectly at high temperatures or the control board may be mismanaging heater power. Replace the temperature sensor first; if the problem persists, replace the main control PCB.
