Possible Causes

Blocked air vents,Failed over-temperature thermostat,Stuck relay on main control PCB,Excessive grease buildup around heating element

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection.

Steps to address over-temperature errors:

  • 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer is on a hard, flat surface with at least 5 inches (12 cm) of clearance around all sides and the rear. Do not operate under cabinets or in confined spaces.
  • 2. Clean the interior: Remove the basket and drawer. Wipe away grease and food debris from the bottom pan, walls, and especially around the heating element and fan guard using a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the element.
  • 3. Inspect air inlets/outlets: Check the rear and bottom vents for dust, grease, or obstructions. Clean with a soft brush or vacuum.
  • 4. Reset and test: After cleaning and ensuring proper airflow, plug the unit back in and run a short preheat cycle at a moderate temperature. If E2 reappears quickly, continue.
  • 5. Access the thermal cutoff/thermostat: With the unit unplugged and cool, remove the rear or bottom cover. Locate the high-limit thermostat / thermal cutoff mounted near the heating element housing.
  • 6. Check the thermostat: Some thermostats have a manual reset button (small red button). Press it firmly to reset. If there is no reset or it trips repeatedly, test continuity with a multimeter. Replace the high-limit thermostat if it is open at room temperature and not resettable.
  • 7. Evaluate the control board: If the thermostat and sensor are good but the unit overheats or reports E2, the main control PCB may be driving the element too long due to a stuck relay and should be replaced.

Do not bypass or short the safety thermostat; this is a fire hazard.
