Possible Causes

Blown thermal fuse on heater assembly, Overheated cavity due to blocked air vents, Failed temperature limiter on heater plate, Shorted heating element causing overcurrent

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Bosch air fryer from the wall outlet and allow it to cool for at least 30–45 minutes before any inspection. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer is placed on a hard, flat surface with at least 10 cm clearance around all sides and the rear. Remove any objects blocking the rear or bottom vents. Clean dust or grease from vents with a soft brush.
  • 2. Inspect basket and pan: Remove the frying basket and pan. Check for melted plastic, burnt food buildup, or foil blocking the air outlets. Clean thoroughly with warm soapy water and dry completely.
  • 3. Power reset: With the unit unplugged and fully cooled, press and hold the main power or Start/Stop button for 10–15 seconds (if supported) to discharge internal electronics. Plug back in and test.
  • 4. Internal thermal fuse check (advanced): Remove the rear or bottom cover (typically Torx screws) to access the heater assembly. Locate the thermal fuse / thermal cut-out mounted near the heating element. Using a multimeter on continuity mode, test the fuse. If it is open (no continuity), it has blown and must be replaced with an identical temperature and amperage rating component.
  • 5. Inspect temperature limiter: Check the temperature limiter / thermostat disc on the heater plate for signs of overheating or cracking. Replace if visibly damaged or if it does not reset when cooled.

When to stop: If the new thermal fuse blows again quickly, or if you see signs of melted wiring or a shorted heating element, stop using the appliance and contact a Bosch service technician. Continued use may pose a fire risk.
