Possible Causes

Open heating element coil, Loose spade connector on heater terminals, Burnt wiring harness to heater, Failed heater relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the Bosch air fryer from mains power before opening any panels. Allow the unit to cool completely.

Basic checks:

  • 1. Confirm symptom: Start a short cooking cycle. If the fan runs but there is no warmth from the top or side vents after 3–5 minutes and E02 appears, the heater circuit is suspect.
  • 2. Visual inspection: Remove the basket and pan. Look up toward the heating element. Check for broken or sagging heater coils, burn marks, or heavy carbonized grease. Clean light grease with a damp cloth when cool.

Internal inspection (advanced):

  • 3. Access heater terminals: Remove the rear or top cover to expose the heating element assembly. Note wire positions or take photos.
  • 4. Check connections: Inspect spade connectors on the heater for looseness, discoloration, or burning. Reseat or replace damaged connectors. Ensure the wiring harness is not brittle or melted.
  • 5. Test heating element: Disconnect at least one heater terminal. Use a multimeter on resistance (ohms). A typical air fryer heater will show a finite resistance (often 10–60 Ω). If it reads open (OL), the element is faulty and must be replaced.
  • 6. Control board relay: If the heater tests good and wiring is intact, inspect the power relay on the main control PCB for burn marks or a stuck contact. Replacement of the control board is usually required if the relay has failed.

Note: If you are not comfortable testing live circuits or replacing high‑wattage heating elements, contact a Bosch-authorized technician. Incorrect repair can cause electric shock or fire.
