Possible Causes

Shorted heating element, Shorted triac or relay on main control board, Damaged power cord or internal wiring short to chassis, Liquid ingress on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit immediately. Do not repeatedly reset and run an appliance that is tripping internal overcurrent protection.

  • Visual inspection: Remove the outer cover and inspect the main control board, heating element terminals, and wiring for burn marks, melted insulation, or signs of arcing.
  • Check power cord and strain relief: Inspect where the cord enters the unit. Look for crushed or cut insulation. Replace the power cord if any copper is exposed.
  • Test heating element: Disconnect the heating element leads and measure resistance. Compare to typical values for your model (often 10–40Ω). A reading near 0Ω indicates a shorted element that must be replaced.
  • Inspect control board components: Look at the heater relay or triac on the board. If cracked, burned, or bulged, the board should be replaced as an assembly.
  • Dry out moisture: If there are signs of liquid spills inside, allow the unit to dry completely for 24–48 hours in a warm, dry place before retesting. Clean any residue with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.

Because overcurrent faults can involve fire risk, if you are not comfortable testing live circuits, have a qualified technician perform further diagnosis.
