Possible Causes
Open heating element, Loose heater terminal connection, Failed heater relay/triac on main control board, Burned wiring between board and element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool. Heating components can retain heat for a long time.
- Access heater terminals: Remove the cover to expose the heating element assembly and its connections to the wiring harness.
- Inspect connections: Check for loose spade terminals, discoloration, or melted plastic around the heater terminals. Tighten or replace connectors as needed.
- Test heating element: Disconnect the element and measure its resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit (OL) indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check wiring harness: Follow the heater wires back to the control board. Repair or replace any sections with burned or brittle insulation.
- Control board relay: Inspect the heater relay or triac on the main control board for burn marks or cracking. If the relay is not switching (no voltage to the heater when commanded), replace the control board.
After repairs, run a short test cycle while monitoring for unusual smells or noises.
