Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between touch panel and main board, Damaged touch PCB, Liquid ingress into control panel, Firmware glitch on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing the control panel or top cover.
- Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge, then reconnect and test. This can clear minor firmware glitches.
- Inspect control ribbon: Remove the front or top trim to access the touch control panel. Carefully disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the panel and the main control board, ensuring it is fully seated and not kinked.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or spills behind the display window. If present, gently dry the area and allow the unit to sit in a warm, dry place for 24 hours.
- Examine touch PCB: Inspect the control PCB for corrosion, burned components, or cracked solder joints. If damaged, replace the control panel assembly.
- Main board replacement: If the panel and ribbon are known good but E8 persists, the main control board may have a communication fault and require replacement.
Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the control panel; apply to a cloth first to prevent future liquid ingress.
