Possible Causes
Built-up grease on heating element, Food particles burning on heater, Plastic components overheating near element, Blocked vents causing high internal temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you see flames, unplug the unit immediately and keep the door closed. Do not use water on grease fires.
- Stop and cool: Turn off and unplug the fryer. Allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Deep clean interior: Remove the basket, tray, and any accessories. Clean them thoroughly with hot soapy water. Wipe the interior walls and around the heating element with a damp cloth to remove grease (do not soak electrical parts).
- Inspect heater area: Look for charred food or grease on the heating element and fan shroud. Carefully remove buildup with a non-abrasive pad.
- Check plastic parts: Inspect nearby plastic shields or fan housings for signs of melting. Replace any deformed parts.
- Ventilation: Ensure vents are clear to prevent overheating. Avoid cooking foods with excessive oil without using a drip tray.
