Possible Causes

Blocked air vents causing overheating, Failed or stuck relay on control board, Faulty thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat, Fan motor not running causing heat buildup

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the fryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not cover vents or operate the unit inside cabinets.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) of clearance around all sides and above the fryer. Remove any objects blocking the rear or bottom vents.
  • Clean air paths: Remove the basket and drawer. Inspect the interior for heavy grease or food debris around the heating element and fan shroud. Clean with a soft brush and damp cloth; avoid spraying liquid directly on electrical parts.
  • Verify fan operation: Start a short cook cycle and listen for the fan. If the fan does not run or is very weak, unplug the unit and inspect the fan motor and blades for obstructions or damage.
  • Inspect thermal fuse / thermostat: With the housing removed, locate the thermal cutoff or high-limit thermostat mounted near the heater. Check for signs of burning or discoloration. Use a multimeter to test continuity; if open, replace the thermal fuse or thermostat.
  • Control board relay: If the unit overheats quickly or the heater stays on continuously, the heater relay on the control board may be stuck closed. In this case, replace the main control PCB.
