Possible Causes

Open-circuit heating element, Burned heater terminals, Loose spade connectors on heater, Failed heater relay or triac on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the fryer and wait until the heater is completely cool before touching any internal parts.

  • Visual inspection: Remove the top or rear cover to access the heating element. Look for broken coils, burn marks, or disconnected wires at the heater terminals.
  • Check connections: Ensure all spade connectors on the heating element are tight. Reseat any loose connectors and look for heat damage to the insulation.
  • Test the element: With a multimeter set to ohms, measure across the heater terminals. A typical Chefman air fryer element will read between 10–40Ω. If the reading is OL (open), the element is burned out and must be replaced.
  • Control board test: If the element tests good, check for voltage at the heater terminals when a cook cycle is started (this should only be done by someone experienced with live voltage testing). If no power is present while the unit is calling for heat, the heater relay or triac on the control board is likely defective.
  • Replace failed component: Replace the heating element if open or physically damaged. Replace the main control PCB if the relay/triac is not energizing the heater.
