Possible Causes

Misaligned basket, Broken door latch, Faulty microswitch, Loose switch wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before manipulating the door or basket latch area internally.

  • Check basket insertion: Remove and firmly reinsert the basket or drawer until it clicks fully into place. Some Chefman models require a firm push to engage the safety switch.
  • Inspect latch and rails: Look for bent rails, warped plastic, or food debris preventing full closure. Clean the rails and latch area thoroughly.
  • Test the switch: With the unit unplugged, locate the door/basket microswitch (usually near the front frame where the basket slides in). Manually press the switch lever; you should hear a distinct click. If it feels mushy or does not click, the switch may be defective.
  • Continuity check: Use a multimeter to test the switch. It should show continuity when pressed and open when released. Replace the switch if it fails this test.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the switch wires are firmly connected to the control board and not pinched or broken.
