Possible Causes
Corrupted control firmware, Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Power surge damage, Failed EEPROM or microcontroller on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel.
- Power cycle: Unplug the fryer for at least 15 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and test. If E8 returns, continue.
- Inspect control connections: Remove the front/control panel. Check the ribbon cable and connectors between the display board and main control PCB. Reseat all connectors firmly.
- Look for damage: Examine the control board for burn marks, swollen capacitors, or corrosion. Any visible damage usually means the board must be replaced.
- Surge protection: If the error followed a power outage or surge, consider using a surge protector after repair to prevent recurrence.
- Replace control board: If reseating cables does not resolve the issue, replace the main control PCB assembly. Firmware on these boards is not typically field-reprogrammable.
