Possible Causes
Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Melted sensor insulation contacting chassis, Pinched sensor harness, Failed main control PCB causing false short detection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely before inspection.
- Step 1 – Reset and clean: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in. Remove the basket and check for heavy grease buildup around the top heating area that could overheat the sensor. Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent (no abrasive pads).
- Step 2 – Inspect sensor and wiring: Access the top heating assembly by removing the housing screws (model dependent). Locate the temperature sensor near the heating coil. Look for melted insulation, bare wires touching metal, or wires pinched under brackets.
- Step 3 – Correct shorts: If wires are pinched or touching metal, gently reposition them and secure with high-temperature cable ties. If insulation is melted or conductors are exposed, the sensor harness must be replaced.
- Step 4 – Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor from the control board and measure resistance with a multimeter. A reading near 0 ohms indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor assembly if shorted.
- Step 5 – Evaluate control board: If the sensor measures within normal range and wiring is intact, but E2 persists, the main control PCB may be misreading the sensor and should be replaced.
- Do not bypass: Never bypass or short the temperature sensor to clear the error; this disables safety protection and can cause fire.
