Possible Causes
Open heating element, Burnt heating element terminals, Loose heater wiring at relay or element, Failed heater relay on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely before opening the housing.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: Remove the basket and look up at the heating coil. Check for visible breaks, heavy pitting, or burn marks on the element.
- Step 2 – Access heating assembly: Remove the top or rear cover (model dependent) to expose the heating element terminals and wiring. Look for burnt connectors or loose spade terminals.
- Step 3 – Tighten/repair connections: If a terminal is loose, remove it, clean any oxidation, and crimp it tighter or replace the connector. Ensure all heater wires are firmly attached.
- Step 4 – Test heating element: Disconnect the element leads and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open (infinite) reading indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Step 5 – Check heater relay: If the element tests good, listen for a click from the control board when starting a cook cycle. No click may indicate a failed heater relay on the main control PCB, requiring board replacement.
- Step 6 – Replace faulty parts: Replace the heating element assembly if open or visibly damaged. Replace the main control PCB if the relay or control circuitry is defective.
- Fire risk: Do not operate the unit with partially burnt or arcing heater terminals.
