Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation, Failing fan motor, Overheating main control PCB, Weak thermal cutoff intermittently opening
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the unit to cool fully before further use. Repeated overheating can be dangerous.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure at least 5 inches (12 cm) clearance around the fryer and do not operate under low cabinets or in enclosed spaces.
- Clean vents and interior: Remove grease and debris from intake and exhaust vents, heater guard, and interior walls.
- Check fan operation: During a test cycle, listen for consistent fan speed. If the fan slows or stops before shutdown, inspect and replace the fan motor.
- Inspect thermal cutoff: Open the unit and locate the thermal fuse/thermostat. If it shows signs of heat damage or intermittent continuity, replace it with a Crux-compatible part.
- Check PCB location: Ensure the control board is not covered in grease or dust, which can trap heat. Clean gently with compressed air.
