Possible Causes

Shorted heating element, Shorted fan motor, Damaged power supply section on main PCB, Internal wiring short to chassis

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains immediately. Do not repeatedly reset a unit that may have an internal short, as this can be a fire risk.

  • External check: Inspect the power cord for cuts, burns, or crushed sections. If damaged, replace the power cord before further testing.
  • Smell and visual inspection: After cooling, remove the housing and look for burnt components on the main control PCB, melted insulation, or blackened areas around the heater and fan wiring.
  • Isolate heater and fan (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the heater leads and fan motor connector from the PCB. Check each component for resistance with a multimeter. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted component that must be replaced.
  • Check for wire shorts: Follow the harness from the PCB to the heater, fan, and door switch. Ensure no wires are pinched between metal panels or have exposed copper touching the chassis.
  • Replace failed parts: Replace any shorted heater, fan motor, or damaged harness. If the PCB shows obvious damage (burnt tracks, cracked components), replace the main control PCB as well.
