Possible Causes

Blown thermal fuse on heater circuit, Failed high-limit thermostat stuck open, Blocked cooling airflow around control compartment, Shorted heater relay on control board causing overheat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not bypass safety devices.

  • Step 1 – Check for airflow issues: Ensure the unit has several inches of clearance on all sides and is not pushed against a wall or under low cabinets. Clean grease and dust from vents and fan grilles.
  • Step 2 – Internal inspection: Remove the outer housing to access the heater assembly and safety devices. Look for a small thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat mounted near the heating element.
  • Step 3 – Test continuity: With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to check continuity across the thermal fuse and high-limit thermostat. An open reading indicates the device has tripped or failed.
  • Step 4 – Replace blown safety device: If the thermal fuse is open, replace it with an identical temperature and current rating part. Do not bypass or substitute with a lower-rated fuse.
  • Step 5 – Investigate cause of overheat: Check that the convection fan is spinning freely and that the heater is not warped or touching metal surfaces. If the fan motor is seized or noisy, replace the convection fan motor.
  • Step 6 – Control board check: If the heater is staying on continuously or energizing when it should be off, the heater relay on the main control board may be stuck closed and the board should be replaced.

If you are unsure about identifying safety thermostats or fuses, consult a professional technician.
