Possible Causes
Control board temperature sensor fault, Blocked cooling around control board, Failed control PCB components, Loose sensor connector on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening any panels.
- Step 1 – Ventilation check: Make sure the air fryer is used on a hard, heat-resistant surface with adequate space around it. Remove any objects blocking side or rear vents.
- Step 2 – Clean dust and grease: Grease buildup can insulate components. Carefully clean exterior vents and, if accessible, the internal fan and control area with a soft brush and vacuum (do not use water inside).
- Step 3 – Inspect control board: Remove the control panel cover to access the main control board. Look for discolored areas, bulging capacitors, or burnt spots.
- Step 4 – Check connectors: Reseat all connectors going to the board, especially any small sensor connectors. Ensure they are fully inserted and not corroded.
- Step 5 – Replace board if damaged: If you see obvious heat damage or if E4 persists after cleaning and reseating connectors, replace the main control board assembly.
Because this error often involves electronics, many users will prefer to have a technician perform the diagnosis and board replacement.
