Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between keypad and main board, Damaged touch panel, Corroded connector from moisture or cleaning, Failed control PCB interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening the control panel.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in. If E8 returns immediately, proceed to inspection.
- Step 2 – Inspect control panel: Check for signs of liquid ingress from cleaning sprays or spills. Moisture can short the touch panel.
- Step 3 – Access ribbon cable: Remove the control panel cover to expose the keypad/touch panel ribbon cable and its connector on the main board.
- Step 4 – Reseat connectors: Gently unplug and reinsert the ribbon cable, ensuring it is fully seated and locked. Clean any visible corrosion with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty parts: If the cable is damaged or the touch panel shows cracks or delamination, replace the touch control panel assembly. If the panel is good but E8 persists, replace the main control board.
Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the control panel; apply to a cloth first to prevent future damage.
