Possible Causes
Damaged touch panel membrane, Loose ribbon cable between UI board and main PCB, Corroded keypad connector, Failed keypad scan circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect the control panel: Check for cracks in the glass or plastic fascia, liquid spills, or signs of impact around the buttons.
- 2. Access the UI board: Remove the screws securing the front control panel. Gently pull it forward to expose the ribbon cable and small PCB.
- 3. Reseat ribbon cable: Carefully unplug the flat ribbon cable between the UI board and the main board, then plug it back in fully. Ensure it is straight and locked in place.
- 4. Clean connectors: If there is visible contamination, clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely.
- 5. Test operation: Reassemble enough to power the unit safely and test. If E8 remains, the touch panel or main PCB may need replacement.
Note: Do not operate the unit with the control panel loose or hanging; exposed live parts may be present.
