Possible Causes
Protective oils on heating element, Residual manufacturing coatings inside chamber, New nonstick surface curing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use good ventilation (open window or range hood) during initial burn-in. Do not inhale smoke directly.
Step 1 – Initial cleaning
- Wash the basket and pan with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Wipe the interior with a damp cloth and mild detergent; dry completely.
Step 2 – Burn-in cycle
- Run the air fryer empty at 400°F/200°C for 10–15 minutes.
- Allow it to cool, then repeat once if odor persists.
Step 3 – Evaluate
- A mild odor is normal for the first few uses and should fade.
- If the smell is very strong, acrid, or persists after several uses, stop using the unit and contact Dash support, as there may be a manufacturing defect.
