Possible Causes

Faulty NTC temperature sensor reading low, Sensor detached from mounting point, Stuck heater relay on control board, High-limit thermostat not tripping at correct temperature

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool before inspection. Overheating can damage internal components.

Step 1 – Confirm behavior

  • Use an oven thermometer to check actual temperature versus set temperature.
  • If the actual temperature is significantly higher than set, proceed.

Step 2 – Inspect sensor placement

  • Open the housing (unplugged).
  • Locate the NTC temperature sensor near the heater.
  • Ensure it is firmly attached to its bracket or mounting surface and not hanging loose.

Step 3 – Check control of heater

  • During operation, the heater should cycle on and off; if it stays on continuously, the relay may be stuck.
  • This is difficult to test safely; if suspected, the control board should be replaced.

Step 4 – Replace faulty components

  • If the sensor is damaged or reading incorrectly, replace the NTC sensor.
  • If the high-limit thermostat fails to open at high temperature (tested with a technician’s equipment), replace it.
  • Replace the control board if the heater relay is stuck closed.
