Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely before cleaning or opening.
Step 1 – Deep clean the cooking chamber
- Remove basket and pan; wash them with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Using a non-abrasive sponge and mild degreaser, clean the interior walls and especially the area around the heating element to remove baked-on grease.
- Do not spray cleaner directly onto the element; apply to a cloth first.
Step 2 – Clear ventilation paths
- Inspect rear and bottom vents for lint, dust, or grease. Clean with a soft brush or vacuum.
- Ensure the air fryer is used on a hard, flat surface with at least several inches of clearance on all sides.
Step 3 – Test operation with a light load
- After cleaning and cooling, run the air fryer empty for 3–5 minutes at a moderate temperature (e.g., 350°F/180°C) to burn off residue.
- Then test with a small food load. If E3 no longer appears, the issue was likely overheating from restricted airflow or grease.
Step 4 – Check high-limit thermostat (advanced)
- If E3 persists, unplug the unit and remove the housing to access the high-limit thermostat near the heater.
- Inspect for discoloration or damage.
- Test continuity at room temperature; it should be closed. If open, replace with the correct Dash-rated thermostat.
- If the thermostat is good, the control board may be mismanaging temperature and should be replaced by a professional.
