Possible Causes

Line voltage fluctuation, Internal power supply failure on control board, Shorted heating element, Shorted fan motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before any inspection. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker without finding the cause.

Step 1 – Check external power

  • Plug the air fryer directly into a wall outlet (no extension cords or power strips).
  • Test the outlet with another appliance to confirm proper voltage.
  • If the circuit breaker trips when the air fryer is used, stop and investigate further.

Step 2 – Inspect cord and plug

  • Check the Dash power cord for cuts, kinks, or burn marks.
  • Inspect the plug blades for discoloration or melting.
  • If damaged, replace the power cord assembly; do not tape or splice it.

Step 3 – Internal short check (advanced)

  • With the unit unplugged and opened, visually inspect the control board, heating element, and fan motor wiring for burned spots or melted insulation.
  • Smell for burnt electronics near the control board.
  • If you see obvious board damage (burned traces, bulged capacitors), the board must be replaced.

Step 4 – Component isolation

  • Disconnect the heating element leads and try powering the unit (do not start a cook cycle). If E5 disappears, the heater may be shorted.
  • Reconnect heater and disconnect fan motor; test again. If E5 disappears, the fan motor may be shorted.
  • Replace whichever component causes E5 when connected.

Note: If you are not experienced with electrical troubleshooting, contact a professional technician. E5 often indicates a serious electrical fault.
