Possible Causes
Blocked air vents causing poor airflow, Failed or stuck thermal cutoff / thermal fuse, Faulty NTC sensor reading too low, Main control PCB not regulating heater output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Surfaces and internal parts may be very hot.
Quick checks:
- Ventilation: Ensure the air fryer is placed on a hard, flat surface with at least 10 cm (4 in) clearance on all sides and above. Clear any obstructions from rear and side vents. Do not operate under low cabinets where heat accumulates.
- Basket loading: Avoid overfilling the basket; thick layers of food can restrict airflow and cause localized overheating. Test with an empty basket to see if E3 still appears.
- Clean grease and debris: Remove the basket and drawer. Clean the interior, especially around the heater and fan guard, to remove built-up grease that can trap heat.
- Inspect thermal cutoff: With the housing removed, locate the thermal cutoff or thermostat mounted near the heater. Check for discoloration or signs of overheating. Many thermal cutoffs are one-shot devices; if open, they must be replaced with the same temperature and rating.
- Sensor and board: If vents are clear and the thermal cutoff is intact, the NTC sensor or control PCB may be misreading temperature. Test the sensor as in E1/E2. Replace the main control PCB if sensor and cutoff are good but E3 persists.
Warning: Never bypass a thermal fuse or thermostat. Doing so can create a serious fire hazard.
