Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely before opening. Heating components can retain heat.
Diagnostic steps:
- Visual inspection: Remove the basket and look up toward the heating element. Check for visible breaks, warping, or burn spots on the element.
- Access heater terminals: Remove the rear or top cover to access the heater connections. Inspect for loose, burnt, or discolored terminals. Tighten loose connectors and replace any that are burnt.
- Check continuity: With the unit unplugged, disconnect one heater lead and measure resistance across the element. A typical value is between 10–40Ω depending on model. Infinite resistance indicates an open element that must be replaced.
- Inspect thermal fuse: Many Electrolux air fryers include a thermal fuse in series with the heater. Locate it near the heater assembly and test for continuity. If open, replace with the exact temperature and current rating.
- Control board relay: If the heater and fuse test good, the heater relay on the main PCB may be faulty. Listen for a click when starting a cycle. No click or visible damage on the board suggests the PCB needs replacement.
Warning: Do not bypass the thermal fuse or operate with exposed wiring. This can cause fire or electric shock.
