Display shows E2 and the Emeril Lagasse air fryer will not heat or stops mid-cycle.

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool fully. Internal components may be very hot.

• Allow full cool-down: If E2 appears after heavy use, let the fryer cool for 30–45 minutes, then try again. Some models trigger E2 when the sensor detects extreme temperature.
• Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear cover. Follow the sensor wires from the cavity to the control board. Look for crushed, pinched, or melted insulation where the harness passes through metal.
• Clean and dry connector: Disconnect the sensor plug, inspect for grease or moisture, and clean gently with a dry cloth or electronics-safe contact cleaner. Let it dry completely before reconnecting.
• Check resistance: With the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the sensor leads. A reading near 0Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor if shorted.
• Check for overheating signs: Look for darkened insulation, burnt smell, or discoloration around the heater and sensor area. If present, inspect the heater and wiring for damage and replace as needed.
• If sensor and wiring are normal: The main control board may be misinterpreting the sensor signal. Replace the main control board if E2 persists after sensor replacement.
