Possible Causes

Fan motor seized or shorted, Fan motor connector loose, Obstruction preventing fan from turning, Failed fan driver circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the fryer and allow it to cool. Do not insert fingers near the fan blades.

  • Listen for fan: When E6 appears, note whether the fan attempts to start (brief hum) or is completely silent. This helps distinguish motor vs. board issues.
  • Access fan: Remove the rear cover. On oven-style models, the fan is usually behind a shroud near the top rear. On basket models, it is above the heater.
  • Check for obstructions: Spin the fan blade gently by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. Remove any food debris, foil pieces, or grease buildup blocking the fan.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated on the board and that wires are not pinched or broken.
  • Test motor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan motor and measure resistance across its terminals. An open circuit (OL) or very low resistance (near 0Ω) indicates a bad motor. Replace the fan motor assembly.
  • If motor tests good and spins freely: The fan driver on the main control board may be faulty. Replace the main control board if E6 persists.
