Possible Causes
Door switch misaligned, Basket-in sensor not engaging, Broken door latch tab, Failed door switch on control board harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before adjusting door or switch components.
- Check door/basket closure: Make sure the door is fully closed and latched, or the basket is fully inserted until it clicks. Remove any food or foil that may be preventing full closure.
- Inspect latch and tabs: On oven-style models, inspect the plastic or metal latch tabs on the door and frame. On basket models, inspect the basket rail and front latch. Replace if cracked or worn.
- Locate door/basket switch: With the rear or side cover removed, locate the small microswitch or magnetic reed switch that detects door/basket position.
- Check switch actuation: Manually press the switch lever or move the magnet into position and listen for a click. If no click or if it feels loose, the switch may be faulty.
- Test continuity: With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to test the switch. It should change from open to closed when actuated. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Adjust alignment: Loosen mounting screws and slightly reposition the switch so that the door or basket reliably engages it when closed.
