Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between display board and main board, Oxidized control connectors, Failing main control board microcontroller, Moisture intrusion into control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the fryer before accessing the control panel.

  • Power reset: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in. Sometimes E8 clears after a full power discharge.
  • Access control panel: Remove screws securing the top or front panel to expose the display/control PCB and the main control board.
  • Check ribbon and connectors: Gently unplug and re-seat the ribbon cable and any multi-pin connectors between the display board and main board. Ensure they are fully inserted and locked.
  • Inspect for moisture or grease: Look for condensation, grease film, or corrosion on the control boards. Carefully clean with electronics-safe contact cleaner and allow to dry completely.
  • Board inspection: Check for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or physical damage. If found, replace the main control board (and display board if visibly damaged).
  • If E8 persists: Replace the main control board assembly, as the internal communication circuitry is likely faulty.
