Possible Causes
Misaligned or damaged basket rail, Broken plastic actuator that presses the microswitch, Failed basket safety microswitch, Loose switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting the basket mechanism.
Steps to resolve basket detection issues:
- Inspect basket fit: Ensure the basket and pan are correctly oriented and fully inserted. Check for bent metal or warped plastic that prevents full insertion.
- Check actuator tab: Look inside the front opening for a small plastic tab or protrusion that contacts the internal switch. If broken or worn, the switch may not be engaged.
- Access the switch: Remove the bottom cover to locate the basket safety microswitch near the front of the unit.
- Test the switch: Manually press the switch lever and listen for a click. Use a multimeter to verify continuity changes when pressed. Replace the switch if it fails.
- Adjust alignment: Slightly bend the metal bracket holding the switch (if present) so that the basket actuator reliably presses the switch when fully inserted.
Tip: Avoid overloading or forcing the basket, as this can bend rails and misalign the actuator.
