Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool fully before inspection. Do not attempt to run the unit with covers removed.
Steps to troubleshoot E2:
- Reset and inspect: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug in and test. If E2 reappears immediately, proceed.
- Open the base: Remove the basket and pan. Turn the unit upside down and remove the screws holding the bottom cover. Carefully lift the cover to avoid straining wires.
- Inspect the NTC sensor and wiring: Locate the temperature sensor near the heating chamber. Look for melted insulation, pinched wires, or bare conductors touching the metal housing.
- Dry any moisture: If you see condensation or oil around the sensor connector, gently dry with a lint-free cloth. Do not use water or cleaners inside.
- Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor from the control board and measure resistance with a multimeter. A reading near 0 ohms indicates a shorted sensor. Replace if shorted or if resistance is far outside the expected range.
- Replace the sensor: Remove mounting screws or clips, install a compatible Farberware NTC sensor, and route the wires away from the heating element and fan.
- Check the control board: If a known-good sensor still triggers E2, the main control PCB may have a failed sensor circuit. Inspect for burn marks or corrosion; replace the board if damaged.
Note: Do not bypass or jumper the sensor; this is a safety device that prevents overheating.
