Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool. Do not insert fingers or tools into the fan area while the unit is plugged in.
Steps to troubleshoot E6:
- Check for obstructions: Look through the rear or top vents for foreign objects, foil, or food pieces blocking the fan. Remove the basket and pan and inspect the interior top area for loose debris.
- Access the fan: Turn the unit upside down, remove the bottom cover, and locate the fan motor assembly attached to the heater housing.
- Spin the fan by hand: Gently rotate the fan blades. They should spin freely without grinding or binding. If stiff or stuck, the motor bearings may have failed and the motor should be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the fan motor connector and wiring harness for loose plugs, broken insulation, or burn marks. Reseat the connector on the control board.
- Test the motor (if equipped): If you have a multimeter, check the motor windings for continuity according to the motor type (AC or DC). An open winding indicates a failed motor.
- Replace the fan motor assembly: Remove mounting screws, detach the fan blade if necessary, and install a compatible Farberware fan motor assembly. Ensure the fan rotates without contacting the housing.
- Control board check: If a known-good motor still does not run and E6 persists, the fan driver circuit on the main control PCB may be defective and the board will need replacement.
Warning: Never operate the air fryer with the fan disabled; this can cause dangerous overheating.
