Possible Causes

Misaligned basket not engaging switch, Failed microswitch on basket/door sensor, Broken actuator tab on basket rail, Loose switch wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting the basket switch or internal wiring.

Steps to resolve E7:

  • Check basket seating: Remove the basket and pan, then firmly reinsert them until you hear or feel a click. Many Farberware models require the basket to be fully seated to close the safety switch.
  • Inspect the rails and latch: Look for bent rails, broken plastic tabs, or debris preventing the basket from sliding fully in. Clean and straighten as needed.
  • Locate the basket/door switch: With the unit unplugged and bottom cover removed, find the small microswitch near the front where the basket slides in. It will have a small lever or plunger actuated by the basket.
  • Test the switch: Press the switch lever by hand; you should hear a distinct click. Use a multimeter to check continuity while pressing and releasing. If it does not change state, the switch is faulty.
  • Replace the microswitch: Remove mounting screws, transfer any brackets, and install a compatible Farberware basket safety microswitch. Reconnect wires in the same orientation.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the switch wires are not broken or pulled loose from the control board. Reseat the connector if present.

Tip: Avoid slamming the basket; repeated impact can damage the switch and actuator over time.
