Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display board and main PCB, Corroded connector pins, Failed display/control keypad board, Faulty microcontroller on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer before removing any covers. Avoid pulling on cables by the wires.
Steps to address E9:
- Power reset: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If E9 returns, proceed.
- Access control area: Depending on the model, remove the bottom cover and/or front panel screws to access the control PCB and display/keypad board.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon or multi-pin connector linking the display board to the main board. Check for kinks, pinches, or discoloration.
- Reseat connectors: Carefully unplug the ribbon cable, inspect the contacts for corrosion or debris, and plug it back in fully and squarely.
- Check for damage: Examine both boards for burn marks, cracked solder joints at the connector, or physical cracks in the PCB.
- Replace faulty board: If reseating does not resolve the error, replace the display/keypad board first (if sold separately for your Farberware model). If the issue persists, the main control PCB may need replacement.
Tip: Take photos before disconnecting cables to ensure correct reassembly.
