Possible Causes
Open or disconnected temperature sensor (NTC) harness, Failed NTC temperature probe, Damaged wiring between sensor and control board, Faulty electronic control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the Frigidaire air fryer from the wall outlet and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug the air fryer for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. Sometimes E1 can be triggered by a transient fault.
- Step 2 – Inspect sensor connector: Remove the rear or bottom cover (depending on model) by taking out the screws. Locate the temperature sensor (NTC) near the heating element or in the air channel. Check that the small 2‑wire plug is fully seated on the control board and on the sensor harness.
- Step 3 – Check for visible damage: Look for burnt, pinched, or broken wires between the sensor and the control board. If insulation is melted or wires are cut, the harness must be repaired or replaced.
- Step 4 – Basic continuity check (for users with a meter): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance across the sensor leads. A typical NTC will show several kΩ at room temperature. If the meter reads OL (open) or 0 Ω (short), the sensor is defective.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is open or physically damaged, replace the NTC temperature sensor assembly. If wiring and sensor test good but E1 persists, the electronic control board is likely faulty and should be replaced.
- When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable opening the cabinet or using a multimeter, contact an authorized Frigidaire service provider.
